Pets in the Cabin Program
Our Pets in the Cabin program option enables you to take your pet with you on the aircraft. Please read and follow the requirements below.
Overview
If you would like to take your pet on your next trip, there are few things you need to know.
Only certain animals are allowed in the cabin. If your pet is small enough and does not require a lot of extra care in the cabin, but is not listed here, please contact us to see if you can carry your pet with you.
- Domesticated dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters or small household birds on flights within the United States.
- Domesticated dogs and cats only may be carried to or from international destinations.
Reservations and Fees
- Advance reservations are mandatory and are on a first-come, first-served basis. There is a limit to how many pet containers we can accommodate on board, so don’t forget to make a reservation.
- Passengers must call the Midwest Airlines Contact Center at 800-452-2022 to make reservations for all pets traveling with their owner.
- The fee for a pet traveling onboard the aircraft is $75 each way, regardless of any connections.
- Fees must be paid at the ticket counter upon check-in. Fees are not refundable, unless the pet is denied boarding.
Carrier
- The travel carrier must be large enough for the pet to stand, turn around and lie down in a natural position. It must fit underneath the seat in front of you. There may be certain seats that cannot accommodate your pet carrier, but we’ll work with you to get a seat assignment that works.
- Airbus A318/A319/A320: 24” length x 15. 5” width x 10” height.
- Embraer E170/E175/E190: 18” length x 13.5” width x 10” height.
- Embraer E135/E140/E145: 17” length x 12” width x 10” height.
- Bombardier Q400: 17” length x 15.5” width x 12.4” height.
- We recommend that pets have food or water within four hours of departure. We ask that you do not provide food or water to your pet while traveling on the aircraft. The stress of traveling, the motion of the aircraft and other factors could make your pet uncomfortable.
- Due to limited space in the cabin, if you are bringing on a pet carrier, then you may only carry a personal item. No other baggage is allowed. The pet carrier is your carry-on baggage.
- For safety reasons, the pet must remain in the carrier at all times. If your pet is disruptive, you must soothe it without taking the animal from the carrier.
Health Certificate/Documentation
- A veterinarian's certificate of health is required and must be issued within 10 days of your departure date for domestic flights. Health certificates are generally valid for 30 days. Therefore, if your return travel is beyond 30 days, a new certificate will be needed for the return flight.
- If you are traveling internationally, you must comply with the applicable laws, customs and other governmental regulations, requirements or restrictions of the country, state or territory to which the animal is being transported. This is your responsibility.
