Area Highlights

Restaurants:

You’ll find the choices of cuisine and restaurants to be expansive. Outdoor cafes are particularly popular warm weather spots. Check rewardsnetwork.com/Midwest for descriptions and price ranges for dozens of restaurants that offer Midwest Miles rewards for dining.

The Arts:

The Guthrie Theater, Great American History Theatre and the Penumbra Theatre Company in neighboring St. Paul (the premier African-American theatre in the U.S.), take center stage in Minneapolis arts circles. The city offers more than a dozen theatres plus symphonies and an opera company. The Walker Art Center and the Weisman Art Museum – itself a work of art in its striking stainless steel building, are just two of the many cultural museums in the city.

Local Culture:

The Metrodome is home to the NFL Vikings, while the NBA Timberwolves and WNBA Lynx play at the Target Center. Water sports abound in the greater Minneapolis area, with 22 lakes located within the city limits offering the best urban fishing in the country. Lake Calhoun is one of the most popular of the city’s lake parks. Golfers can choose from over 170 area courses.

Entertainment:

The Uptown neighborhood is where you’ll find hip energy, offbeat shopping and a hot nightlife filled with alternative musical venues. The Warehouse District is another trendy area. Historic in nature, it features arts, cafes and a lively nighttime entertainment. The Minnesota State Fair is a must-do in late August.
