Company Description
We’ve earned our reputation as “The best care in the air®” by providing travelers with impeccable service and onboard amenities at competitive fares. Our commitment to offering personal, attentive service both on the ground and in the air has earned us national and international recognition from frequent travelers and the airline industry, including Condé Nast Traveler, Travel+Leisure and the Zagat Airline Survey – which have rated Midwest Airlines the best airline in the United States. Be assured that we’ll do everything possible to provide you an outstanding travel experience every time you fly with us.
Our partnership with Frontier Airlines – our sister airline under the ownership of Republic Airways – provides our customers with additional benefits. Our codeshare program with Frontier provides a wider choice of travel destinations and additional flight options and connection possibilities, along with the convenience of booking your entire flight on a single ticket. And our frequent flyer partnership allows members of the Midwest Miles and Frontier Early Rewards
programs to earn and redeem miles on either airline.
A Brief History
Midwest Airlines grew out of Kimberly-Clark Corporation’s internal transportation service for executives. It formed K-C Aviation in 1969, providing aviation services to other companies and specializing in the meticulous customization of corporate aircraft. In 1984, K-C Aviation and Kimberly-Clark launched Midwest Express Airlines, which became a publicly traded company in 1995. In 2003, the carrier simplified its name to Midwest Airlines. TPG Capital purchased the airline in 2008, returning it to being a privately held entity. In 2009, Republic Airways Holdings, a publicly held company, acquired Midwest.
Headquarters
Midwest Airlines is headquartered in Milwaukee, where its major base of operations is General Mitchell International Airport. A secondary hub is located in Kansas City. From these cities, Midwest flies to the East and West coasts, as well as many cities in between.
